Good Morning! And what a beautiful start it is to this 4th of July weekend! The sun is out and the humidity is low, just the way I like it! I've got quite a bit to do today and it's all good stuff!
We are visiting my sister and her family on the 4th, as we do every year, for a day and night long bbq, and we look forward to it every year! It's a fun day full of swimming, food, family and fireworks. We actually don't set any off as they are illegal here but there are plenty of people who do so we get to watch theirs! We can't wait. 4th of July has always been one of my favorites. This holiday weekend really started off with a bang (no pun intended) when I received yesterday a package from my new buddy Lil' Raggedy Angie! I was out with my Mom at the grocery store, and I came home to find a package on my porch. What's better than that???? The package was adorable as she even had Raggedys as her labels! I'm a Raggedy lover as well, and I think I might do a near future post of my lil' Raggedy items so I love all the Raggedys ......I open up this package and inside is amazing great stuff I LOVE!!!! In lovely bags with tea stained labels :) I was in heaven. Potpourri, beautiful bowl fillers, yummy candy and a picture on canvas I adore. She even put a little pillow that is so sweet. Go back up to my pictures up top and take a look! Thank you so much!!!! You sure know what I like! You must checkout her blog (see my sidebar) and you will enjoy it as much as I do. I also met some other new friends (again, check the sidebar) for Thru Nana's Window and Marmie's Mammys And More and Farmhouse Prims. Unfortunately Blogger won't let me post comments on their blogs. It has been so temperamental and it is very aggravating but I do love their blogs and appreciate their comments on mine! So check the sidebar and read, and you'll be happy you did!
The project I'm working on this weekend will be a redo of this window/mirror. It's full of webs and dirt and as much I love prim, this isn't prim in a good way. My husband brought it home from a job he was working on, and he had it sitting in our garage. I'm gonna see what I can do with it. I will be removing those moldy flowers and more.
Well I think I will get started on everything I want to do! I have Hidden Valley Ranch Pinwheels to make! I will be making some of those for the 4th of July and also a Mexican Seven Layer Dip. Today I will make the first batch of pinwheels as I am sending them to the people that my husband has done a ton of carpentry work for since the Winter. He just built them the most beautiful old fashioned screened in porch. It's the type of porch that is on the side of the house; you enter it from french doors from their livingroom and then there is another exit on one end of the porch into the yard. The way Billy did it, it looks like it was constructed in the old days with the moldings and detail work he added. He even created a swingy type door for it. The screening is so fine, you can't even see it! You think you are outside! This particular family, downsized from a very large colonial home to this smaller colonial on the same street, and they (with much of the work done by Billy) made this smaller home a dream house! I thought they would enjoy my pinwheels with a cool drink on their new porch! I believe in showing appreciation to people who always call you back for more work! I will post the recipe shortly. BELIEVE ME--these are great!
Have a fun Saturday!
Margaret, Good morning. Wow, that Angie is something else. Such a sweet person and so giving. Love all your goodies. Just makes our day to get a gift in mail, huh? Hope you have a great weekend with family. Sounds like fun. And those pinwheels are yummy, I bet. Your Mister must be very talented. That porch sounds wonderful. When we built our house (many moons ago) we had french doors leading out to an open deck. A few years later we had it enclosed and added roof and made it into a sunroom. I still wish we had done a screen porch. You have a fun and safe weekend
