Party Post!

After all the planning, all the crafting, all the decorating and the baking.....and then it's over in a flash! Our party appeared to be a success--my son said it was our best yet. 20 kids and 10 adults and it all went smoothly (maybe one little glitch or two with the popcorn machine) but other than that just lots of fun playing games, enjoying friends and having some goodies to eat! I think the biggest hit of the party was the cotton candy machine! And for the first time we did a contest where the kids voted for two prizes--cutest costume and scariest costume! Here's my cutie dressed as a Candy Corn Witch!

It was a chilly and windy day and most of our games were held outside. The wind and the cold didn't stop the excitement of this gang! They happily did sack races, relay races with ping pong eyeballs on a spoon (!), balloon darts candy game, bean bag tossing and a couple more. Here are some of the kids. Zombies were big deal this year; we had a zombie ballerina and a zombie bride. We also had Thing 1 and Thing 2. One little girl came dressed as a Roman Goddess! and Rapunzel visited too!

Of course, the cotton candy was a big hit! So was the mummy wrap!

Before the party started, my living was filled with 150 balloons that we spread over the backyard for the kids to jump and play in!

My table was set with lots of good food and snacks but as everyone arrived, the table was overflowing with yummy stuff and I had to spread it all out to my breakfast bar and two counters!

Some of my cupcakes.....

This witch pedestal is holding my Frankenstein mini cheesecakes! I dyed them green! (Kim K. You are receiving one of these pedestals in your box!)

Cookies 'n" Cream Scream dessert is a party favorite. I have been making it for about 15 years now!

All in all it was a great time and very little clean up afterwards! The kids were so good!

Thinking back to last year our Halloween party was two days before Hurricane Sandy hit us. Sandy was quite a  disaster. If you remember I had no power for 17 days! And two days after Sandy we had a n'oreaster with snow! And one of my cats who had been suffering for a long time with cancer succumbed and we couldn't even bring her to the vet to be cremated cause the roads were closed and the businesses had no power. Such a nightmare. We couldn't trick or treat cause trees and power lines were still down on Halloween. Roads were not accessible for days. Nine utility poles had fallen on my street as well as over thirty trees crushing cars and hitting houses. A terrifying time! Almost surreal.  One of the Moms told me right after cleaning up from Sandy that her kids did not miss trick or treating after all cause they had so much fun at our party that they felt like they still celebrated Halloween! That statement meant so much to me;  I'll never forget it! Well, this year we plan on trick or treating in the afternoon and then Billy and Caitlin go out at night with my husband to make the 'rounds!

Tomorrow I have some great photos of my good friend's Halloween decorations! We visited her today and she does such a super job. We exchanged our Halloween presents with each other today and she sure did spoil me!  For now, I am headed to the bedroom to watch some tv and relax. It was a great weekend! :) but I sure am tired!  Good night!

  2. Well done! Looks like a fantastic party with super fun party games. Such great pictures. I'm sure the cotton candy machine was a HUGE hit. I'm so happy that you had good weather this year and that everyone enjoyed themselves. Being a hostess is a LOT of work. I'm wishing I would have taken off today from work so that I could rest up a bit more. Our weather forecast is terrible for Halloween. Over 2 inches of rain is predicted for Thursday. Boo.
