Valentine Wishes

Good Morning! Happy Valentine's Day weekend! The Northeast is in a deep freeze--our temps are at near 0 and the wind chills make it even colder. February is like that! Enjoying my Valentine tree for another day or two before it transforms into Easter. Wow! Hard to believe that Easter is almost here.

I have actually seen daffodils and hyacinth plants in the supermarkets but I can't bring myself to buy them cause it just feels like Spring is MONTHS away!!!! Maybe when this deep freeze ends.

I received some lovely Valentine ornaments in the mail to add to my tree. I just love them!

School is closed for a week ---Winter Recess as of Monday. Caitlin and I have some plans with friends and we are also working on her science fair board. We are doing density tests and layered liquids. In the end, our graduated cylinder looks like a rainbow of liquids!

I finally finished my new border in the laundry room. We had repainted our basement  a lovely prim color called peanut butter and this is my new border:

That's about if for me! Making a big pot of corned beef and cabbage and red potatoes for dinner tonight. I think I need to make a cake today too. Cold weather makes me want to cook!

Enjoy your Day!

Snow Days!

good Morning! Another snow day for the kids! School was closed Friday and today as well...it doesn't look too hopeful for Tuesday or Wednesday wither because we have periods of snow for those days too. That's fine with us!

I saw some cute ideas on Pinterest for tiered trays and baskets and really liked this one since I have so many resin birds. I love them and thought it would be nice to copy this particular one.

There were some beauties for Easter as well. Do you prefer Easter in March or April? I think I prefer April. I associate Easter with Spring and it just doesn't seem like Spring here in March.

I'm also working on a copy of this:

I love crafts I can do that incorporate buttons! What are you working on?

Good Morning!

Good Morning Friends! I just love this photo above (I didn't take it) but I adore it! I did take this photo Sunday morning:

Beautiful cardinals. I love them. Did you know you will always see them in pairs? Husband and wife. Never leave each other's side.

So we had a big snow a couple weeks back. 27 inches to be precise. We were quite buried and although I enjoy snow, that was a little too much plus it made it a bit difficult for my husband to handle his job site in NYC.  We live an hour away and usually NYC gets less than us here on Long Island but this time they got equally bombarded. It's all good though! My front door sure looked pretty!

My Valentine tree is ready to go. Though I keep adding things we make to it. I didn't get to do as much this year but I am so pleased with this tree!

My son even brought back an ornament from his South Carolina trip for it. I think I'll either do St Patrick's Day next or skip right to Easter! Though I always decorate for St Patrick's Day too!

This is just a pretty image of one of the windows in my livingroom. I love seeing the snow fall!

Look at my recent acquisitions:

Pasta Bowl

Platter

I love all my rooster stuff! Can never have enough!

Oh, and I knew there was one more thing...I made a very cute button garland for my kitchen tree:

It looks prim and adorable!

Hope your day is wonderful!

Snowy Night!

The snow is falling and it's so cozy in my house tonight. This was a weekend of productivity! For some reason it has really taken me a while to get my house back to normal after the holidays. I made some changes ( I always do) and I did a good cleaning when the decorations were put away but I'm just getting it all together now! We also got a new area rug for the family room and hung up a new light in Caitlin's room. New fresh hay in the chicken coop and a number of small projects that were incomplete are complete! I also made a delicious chocolate chip coffee cake!

I got a three foot white Christmas tree for $2 at a 90% off sale today at Family Dollar! I'm so excited! I went in to buy cat litter and came out with a Christmas tree! I wanted white so I could do my candy tree and I think I'm going to redo my Valentine tree onto the white one too! Maybe tomorrow!

I was happy to see the snow today though! I don't want a great deal of it as my husband has a lot of out door work and a bit of traveling to do but a dusting is nice.

I'm making this garland of buttons. I think I might do a red and white one too.

this is not mine, but mine looks just like it! It's adorable. You can also hot glue the buttons on to the twine if you don't want to tie them.

Have a great night!

Christmas Week

Christmas was here and gone before we had time to blink! Wow that was fast! We had a wonderful Christmas -- hectic till it got here and then peaceful when it arrived. The colder weather is starting to settle in, and I'm happy about that cause it just hasn't felt like Winter or Christmas with it being in the 60's....that's not typical for us at all! Time to take out the afghans and quilts and snuggle.

Caitlin made a cool gingerbread house! We were happy we got to complete a lot of little projects before Christmas that we had planned. I did a lot of baking! I made nine different kinds of cookies and three different types of candy! I was baking all the way up to Christmas Eve day.

Here's Caitlin with one of her favorite gifts:

My son's favorite gift was the plane ticket we gave him for a vacation with his girlfriend's lovely family!

We enjoyed the holiday concert at school:

And seeing Santa:

I'm still enjoying all my decorations--not ready to take them down yet!

I am thinking of some Valentine crafts though......

Holiday Rush!

Good Morning! I don't know how it happened but a magical Christmas Elf just let me post on Blogger through Windows 10!!!!It's a Christmas Miracle!!!! I have hesitated blogging because of the trouble with the two programs rebuffing one another but today it's great :)

We've been busy here, like all of you I'm sure. Getting everything ready for Christmas~~~so excited. Caitlin and I made several batches of cookies--some our recipes and some that are my Mom's and since she is unable to make cookies any longer by herself, we made her recipes too! I actually did complete one of my resolutions from New Year's for 2015 and that was to be a better cookie baker and I did it! I make some good cookies, if I do say so myself!

Caitlin is doing peanut butter cookies:

These are my Mom's recipe for Butter Crispies:

We made crescents, horns, sugar cookies, and I also made Italian style cookies (two kinds) and I plan to make peanut brittle, and stained glass candy log and a few more. So fun!

We brought some to a Christmas party at my Godmother's house, and they loved them. With all the boys together and all the appetites, they all went fast! My Caitlin was the only girl! I'm happy my husband was home from his trip to South Carolina to make the party!

Here are some photos of my decorating in the kitchen/dining area:

Well, I think I'm gonna do some wrapping and then I'm off to do a couple of errands! Have a great day!

Hello December!

The last month of the year! Wow! That came fast! And it is going to go by quick too. I have so much to do and I'm feeling the pressure that it won't get done! But it always does! Always! Above is a little tree in the corner of my kitchen.

I love setting this little one up in a special little spot.

It brings me joy every time I see it. It radiates happiness :)

The little elves and mice are having a a party of their own!

And someone brought cookies!

I went on a girls weekend trip to Lancaster! We had so much fun!

Shopping, eating, chatting and wonderful scenery! And lots of laughing!

 Have a great day!
