The Big Pumpkin Reveal! & A Cheesecloth Ghost!

Yes, That's what I said:  THE BIG REVEAL! My pumpkin has grown! After years of attempting to grow things from seed, I can proudly announce that I have been successful! And here is MY pumpkin:

See it? Get yer glasses and take a gander! The center of the yellow flower? Don't be envious girls. hahahaha  Pumpkins Pumpkins Everywhere! We have eleven flowers just like this one. In all honesty, if just ONE makes it I will claim a successful harvest!

All kidding aside, I hope everyone is going to enjoy their weekend! The weather is crispand sunny here in the northeast! Please say a prayer for a good blogging buddy, Felicia of Raggedy Creations who is suffering some health setbacks. She's a wonderful person and a great crafter. Ask our Savior to heal her quickly!

Speaking of blogging buddies, please check my sidebar and see Hickory Creek Prims and meet Melissa! You will LOVE her blog! and pass it on, friends! Her posts are so good, I read 'em, read 'em again and then reread them!

Yesterday I was at Family Dollar and was checking out some of their Fall merchandise. They are really great with their seasonal stuff! I am never disappointed when I go! I saw quite a few things but so far picked up a really cute owl chalkboard:

Only $3 and it even has little owl clips to hold messages!

Then I got this adorable totem pole for $2!

I t has a turkey at the base but it's never too early to get your Thanksgiving stuff going! If you have a Family Dollar near you, check them out! I'm going back for a few items!
I think in a previous post I had mentioned a ladder I crafted? I had this plain ladder for about three  years and I had recently came across it in my craft room. I affixed some pip berries, lights, rusty stars and here she is:

Then I added her as a backdrop to a table in my family room:

fun, fun, fun.

Today is going to be an" in the house cooking/cleaning/crafting day."  Those days are my favorites. Nothing like the smell of a good meal cooking while you get your house all ready ! I'm making a brisket in the slow cooker and getting the house all dusted, and straightened and ready so I can really start to decorate.

Have you seen these? Cheesecloth ghosts!

They are very easy to make. You need a big empty soda bottle or smaller bottles depending on what size ghost you want and cheesecloth and liquid starch. You soak the cheesecloth in the starch and drape it over the bottle and to get the arms lifted up you prop the cloth with other objects. THEN LEAVE IT! Once it is dry, you have a great shape. Remove the bottles. You can use a spray glue and add sparkles! or not...you can decorate it however you like. I will be making these this week. I had bought one years back on a vacation to Lake George. There was a huge craft fair and they had all different cheesecloth ghosts decorated so uniquely! I don't have mine any longer as it turned yellow and got bent up after many years. You have to be really careful how you store them. Actually mine looked just like that one with the little chain...I took that picture from google images; that isn't my ghost. Think about crafting one! It's fun!

Have a great weekend! Don't forget to smile!

  3. With as many pumpkins as we decorate each year for our big party, you'd think we'd be successful in growing our own. Nope. Wish we had a family dollar. Those are some cute goodies. Josie's never made a cheesecloth ghost. I think it's time. Darling ghost.
